Completed Appointments 2019

Project Description
The conceptual gesture for this body of liturgical appointments is open hands. The design directive was to create a sense of intimacy within the larger chapel, reflecting the nature of the Sisters who live and worship there. We worked with the architects in a collaborative manner to create warm and welcoming appointments in the central worship space defined by the round marble predella and the lighted corona overhead. Many “hands” working in concert are used throughout the crafted solid cherry appointments to support the open hands conceptual gesture design theme. Visual warmth and softness hand shaped into the wood reflects the Sisters’ spirituality and their oneness with their community. Cherry burl used in the Ambo and hand blown glass created for the Font vessel aid in revealing majesty and mystery.
